Vautravers Building in Chicago Moved for CTA Project

Wolfe House Movers relocated the 127-year-old Vautravers Building in Chicago this week as part of the Chicago Transit Authority’s  Red-Purple Line modernization project. The move will allow the CTA to straighten the curve in the tracks that was built into the line to bypass the building, resulting in faster commuter times. Wolfe used unified jacking machines and push-pull rams with XY skates to lift the 840-ton building and slide it 30′ west and 4′ south over steel roll beams.
