When the Williams Grove Historical Steam Engine Association was gifted a historic carousel house, they partnered with Wolfe House Movers to relocate the structure to their property. The building—an 82-foot octagonal timber-frame pavilion with a wooden floor system—stood at the now-closed Williams Grove Amusement Park. Moving it required navigating a 2,000-foot route that included crossing a creek and traveling over railroad tracks.
Wolfe began the process by lifting the structure using their Buckingham unified jacking system. They installed dollies under it and placed steel jumper bridges to safely span the creek. Wolfe drove the the carousel house carefully over the route to the new site, where its arrival was marked by a ceremonial pull led by a procession of historic steam engines. Wolfe drove the building precisely over the new footers, wrapping up the two-day relocation.
The association plans to restore the carousel house and make it a central feature of its historic grounds and annual events. Wolfe is honored to have played a part in the association’s endeavor to honor community memory and revitalize local landmarks for new generations.
