The owner of a 29’x55’ split-level home in Millersburg, Pennsylvania, engaged Wolfe House & Building Movers to relocate the building to a new site approximately 3,500 feet from its original location. The two-story wood-framed house, featuring a stone-veneer exterior and an attached garage, required a carefully coordinated lifting and transport plan to navigate open fields and cross a 20-foot marshy area with a creek along the route.

Wolfe’s scope of work included lifting the structure, transporting it to the new site, and setting it at elevation while the new foundation was constructed beneath it. Using steel beams and cribbing, they supported the house and elevated it with the Buckingham Unified Jacking System. When raised, they positioned Buckingham dollies under the building for the transport. Wolfe’s operator then drove the house along the route, which the homeowner had prepared by clearing trees and removing fences.

To cross the low-lying marsh and creek, Wolfe laid steel plate and timber mats, creating a stable travel service that allowed the move to proceed without interruption. Upon arrival at the new location, Wolfe set the house above the newly poured footings. After the contractor had completed the walls, Wolfe returned to lower the house 8 inches onto the foundation.

Wolfe’s successful building relocation allowed the homeowner to move the house efficiently while maintaining its layout and structural integrity. Once the foundation was finished and the house set, the project concluded with the structure properly positioned at its new site.
