Wolfe Relocates Log Cabin Through Open Fields

Most people picture a cabin tucked quietly in the woods, not one rolling nearly three‑quarters of a mile across open fields. In Lewisburg, PA, Wolfe House & Building Movers relocated a 28′ x 42′ log cabin that had originally served as part of a three‑unit model-home display, the structure a new location and a new future. 

The move was completed using four Buckingham power dollies fitted with track treads, giving the crew the traction and stability needed to navigate open terrain. With the tracked dollies carrying the load, Wolfe transported the cabin more than 3,500 feet through two open fields to its new homesite. The specialized equipment allowed Wolfe’s crew to maintain precise steering and consistent ground contact while navigating varying grades and soft ground conditions along the route.  

Once the cabin reached its destination, the team set the cabin onto cribbing while the permanent foundation was installed under it. The owner plans to convert the former display model into a residence, transforming a building originally intended for demonstration into a home for everyday living.  

This project highlights how structural moving can extend the life of well-built structures while adapting them to new uses and location. Choosing relocation preserved the craftsmanship and character of the original building and created an opportunity for it to serve a new purpose for years to come.
