Historic Row House in Des Moines, Iowa

Wolfe House & Building Movers recently moved Norden Hall, a row house built in 1894 in Des Moines, Iowa. The building was set to be demolished until a developer, Christensen Development, stepped in to purchase and relocate the building. The move took place at nighttime to minimize the impact on vehicle traffic in the city’s East Village.

Des Moines resident Jane Buck told a local reporter, “I’m very interested in the history of Des Moines. I don’t want to lose it. I think it’s just fantastic when we have people who will step up and save our wonderful buildings here instead of having them demolished.”

Developer Jake Christensen plans to develop the 3,300-square-foot building into a restaurant with potential office space on the top floor.
