Installing a permanent steel foundation system beneath a riverfront home, raising the structure more than ten feet, placing steel support columns, then releasing the house onto the new footers—that was Wolfe House Movers’ project scope for this house lift in Pennsylvania.

The two-story block-and-frame home originally rested on a block foundation. The homeowner wanted to lift the building to better protect it from flooding, while also replacing everything below the first-floor framing. Wolfe supported the house with crib piles and beams, then installed the permanent steel package. After securing the building to the new steel framework, Wolfe lifted it to allow for replacement of the footers.

During the project, enhanced state regulations required the house to be raised several feet higher than originally planned, necessitating a redesign of the footers and steel support columns. Wolfe elevated the structure to the revised height and installed the  steel columns. When the new footers were finished, Wolfe released the house onto them, completing the home’s transition to a higher, more flood-resistant setting.
